ARTEXPRESS is an eagerly anticipated annual celebration of artworks created by New South Wales Visual Arts students for the Higher School Certificate. The exhibition celebrates the exceptional achievement of the students while showcasing a broad range of skills taught through the Visual Arts curriculum.

For this exhibition 36 artists’ works from schools across New South Wales have been selected, including several works from schools in our local area. The exhibition demonstrates the high standards reached by these emerging artists in 2023, through a variety of expressive forms including painting, drawing, photomedia, sculpture, printmaking, documented forms, collection of work, graphic design, ceramics and time-based forms.

The body of work created in the Higher School Certificate Visual Arts course is the most substantial artistic project students undertake in their schooling years. The exhibition is an opportunity to showcase these talented young artists, their artmaking skills and the wide variety of ideas communicated through their work. Ideas such as the environment, identity and human connection are told through their work, giving us an opportunity to connect with these young artists.

Artists in this exhibition include: Hussein Abdallah, Lauren Ahtee, Achan Ajak, Farah Amin, Sarah Caroll, Kendrick Cheung, Millie Crowley, Lachlan Dacey, Caleb Holmes, Jacinta Kieffer, Kevin Kou, Robbie Little, Yitong Liu, Gianne Lois Magcalayo, Zsalea Mansley, Janna Martin-Cooley, Lachlan Martinez, Ruby McCall, Chloe Mitchell, Iabel Nystrom, Jessie O’Reilly, Georgina Pechan, Olivia Phoon, Elyse Pulbrook, Grace Pun, Titan Sclavenitis, Ella Shield, Emma Simpson, Chelsea Stewart, Peter Tran, Karungurungu Tubaleke, Christian Varvakis, Isabella Warland, Egan White, Johnathan Xiao, Olivia Yarwood.
