About the site
Did you know that Cafe at Lewers sits within the grounds of Penrith Regional Gallery, Home of the Lewers Bequest? Make sure you allow some time to explore the beautiful gardens and take in the exhibitions on display.
There are three galleries; one in the original homestead of artists Margo and Gerald Lewers (this is called Lewers House and is across the garden from the cafe), one in the house built by modernist architecture icon, Sydney Ancher (this is Ancher House, through the door to the right of the cafe window), and the other, a purpose-built main gallery (opposite the cafe seating area).
The Gallery Gardens are a living work of art, maintained by a heritage gardener, beautiful all year round, and supplying fresh produce to boost the artisanal meals at Cafe at Lewers.
The exhibitions change seasonally and admission is free of charge. We also run public programs offering all kinds of events for fun and learning and to immerse you further in the world of the art and artists; as well as children’s art workshops, all abilities art workshops, and education programs for students and teachers.
