At Penrith Regional Gallery, we are dedicated to fostering a dynamic and inclusive arts community in Western Sydney.

As the only visual arts organisation in the Penrith LGA, we have been commissioning, presenting, and supporting contemporary artistic practice since 1981. Our mission is driven by a commitment to inclusivity, cultural storytelling, and the professional development of artists at every stage of their careers.

Becoming part of our team means contributing to a vibrant cultural hub where art is accessible to all. Whether you are curating exhibitions, engaging with the community, supporting local artists, or preserving our collection of over 2,000 works—each role plays a vital part in shaping the artistic identity of our region.

Volunteer with us

Applications are now open to volunteer with Lewers: Penrith Regional Gallery for the 25th Biennale of Sydney, which is coming to Penrith for the first time from 14 March – 14 June 2026.

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do at Lewers. From welcoming visitors and sharing the site’s rich and unique history, to supporting audiences to connect with world-class contemporary art through meaningful conversations, our volunteers play a vital role in the Gallery experience.

Why volunteer?

There are a number of opportunities to volunteer, including invigilating the gallery spaces, assisting our educators in workshops and helping out at events that the Gallery operates.

Due to an overwhelming response, applications have now closed. Please stay tuned for future opportunities.
