Join Blue Mountains artist Jennie Deane for a relaxing watercolour workshop in the beautiful surrounds of Fernhill Estate. Presented by Greater Sydney Parklands and Lewers: Penrith Regional Gallery, this workshop offers a rare opportunity to connect with a historic landscape through art.

Begin the morning with a short introduction from the Greater Sydney Parklands education team, exploring Fernhill’s unique landscape and fascinating history. Then, under Jennie’s guidance, learn simple landscape drawing techniques and discover how to mix, layer and control watercolours to capture your experience on paper.

What to expect:

  • Visit the historic Fernhill Estate
  • Learn easy drawing and composition techniques
  • Experiment with colour mixing, layering, textures and fine detail
  • Explore paper types and creative reuse of test pieces for projects such as tags, bookmarks and earrings
  • Take home finished artworks ready to frame, plus a watercolour card to paint on

  • All materials provided. Jennie will supply reference images, with Fernhill Estate as inspiration
  • Wear comfortable enclosed shoes for walking
