Introduction to Contemporary Needlelace

During this adult short course, join local artist Nell Brey to learn the basics of Contemporary Needlelace. Over 4 weeks, you will learn all the steps necessary to create your own gorgeous lace Superb Fairywren. The mindful process of needlelace will unfold each Sunday, from setting up, building on the basic stitch of needlelace, and then finishing your unique artwork.  All materials will be provided, and all skill levels are welcome.

Weekly Overview 

Week 1 (31/08): Introduction, lace pad, and laying foundation threads
Week 2 (07/09): Filling stitches – buttonhole, corded buttonhole, and double
Week 3 (14/09): Advanced stitches – pea, insertion, and cordonnet edging
Week 4 (21/09): Cordonnet edge, release lace, and blocking
