Public Programs Coordinator

Location: Penrith Regional Gallery & The Lewers Bequest
Employment Type: Part-Time, Fixed Term (22.5 hours per week)
Salary: LGA Level 5 – $35.34 per hour

Are you passionate about bringing art to life and making it accessible to a diverse community?

Penrith Regional Gallery & The Lewers Bequest is seeking a dynamic and creative Public Programs Coordinator to design and deliver engaging visual arts programs. This role will work closely with the Gallery’s Director and team to activate the Gallery’s collection and exhibitions through innovative programming that caters to a wide range of audiences, including families, adults, and community groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver public programs, workshops, and masterclasses that encourage lifelong learning.
  • Foster community engagement through accessible and inclusive programming.
  • Collaborate with the Gallery team to create complementary programs aligned with exhibitions and collections.
  • Manage resources, materials, and logistics to ensure smooth program execution.
  • Support partnerships and collaborations that enhance the Gallery’s local presence.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Previous experience in a visual arts environment with knowledge of contemporary and historical artistic practices.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple programs and deadlines.
  • A passion for community engagement and inclusivity, particularly in developing strategies to engage diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Current NSW Working with Children check and a First Aid Certificate (or willingness to acquire).

Desirable

  • Experience in program management and the ability to work both independently and within a small team.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Education, Art, Museum or Curatorial Studies.
    This is a part-time (22.5 hours per week) role, based at Penrith Regional Gallery in Emu Plains.
