Mud Maps evokes the sense of discovery and exploration that inspired early explorers and cartographers to map out their world. Through the work of contemporary artists Vanessa Berry, Keg de Souza, Narelle Jubelin and Guan Wei, this exhibition encourages audiences to stop and think about the points marked on the map, and to consider how we navigate and make sense of the world through map making. Mud Maps features the Penrith Arcades Project, a photographic and narrative mapping of the social, cultural and geographic landscape of the Penrith CBD by Vanessa Berry; Living Under the Stars, a large scale installation work of the constellations as seen from the Southern Hemisphere by Keg de Souza; and an interactive map room that will invite audiences to mark, plot and share their stories to contribute to a Community Mud Map.
