More Than All The Little Pearly Shells
19 November – 29 January 2012
Drawn from the Collections held by Penrith Regional Gallery & The Lewers Bequest this exhibition presents the artwork of Adolf Gustav Plate (1874 – 1914) and Philip Juster (1952 – 2004). Both artists made work in and inspired by the Pacific region – a hundred years apart.
The deliberate mixing of the two collections in the exhibition, when read as a whole, place the ‘scenic’interests of the ‘colonial’ world next to contemporary ‘post colonial’ points of view.
