Collaborative artwork: a flag for me + a flag for humanity (in the 21st century)
How do we identify with the world? What do flags mean to you?
Join artist Lleah Smith in the creation of a collaborative artwork a flag for me + a flag for humanity (in the 21st century) developed through a series of workshops across Australia, Bangladesh, India and Indonesia.
Participate in a guided discussion on the diverse use of flags and their strong symbolic meanings before creating two unique flags to express your distinct identity. Learn simple hand stitching techniques and reflect on how individual and collective identities are built and shared.
a flag for me + a flag for humanity (in the 21st century) will take place in the main gallery where I hope you get this: Raquel Ormella is currently on exhibition and features inventive and experimental artworks made from flags.
Adults are welcome to participate alone, all children must be accompanied by an adult. Suitable for ages 8+
Please note: The fabric flags will remain with the artist to be sewn together into a final collaborative flag.
Free. Bookings essential, please email gallery@penrith.city or call 4735 1100
